MPs dash home again...

The house in session.
After a stormy session with MPs divided along political parties and tribal affliations, the House unanimously approved the motion to adjourn. This came with a view that the break will offer them opportunity to lower political temperatures and restore unity crucial for the implementation of the new Constitution.

This session was recalled by the president in January to pass two crucial Bills on reforming the Judiciary and the one on the Commission on the Implementation of the Constitution.

But as fate will have it,the politicians had their share of it;leading to heightened political temperatures that dominated debate in the House as legislators chided senior politicians for their public spats.

Backbenchers accused the Executive of embarrassing the State for fighting in public.Still the 2012 succession raised  storm with KKK alliance at  the centre stage while the  president made  disputed  nominations.

While moving the Motion of adjournment on Wednesday the deputy leader of government business Amos Kimunya told the House that MPs needed to go back to the grassroots to ascertain the needs of their constituents.

Kimunya noted the need for legislatures to go back and seek fresh mandate from the electorate,"It's time we went to our constituencies and got fresh mandates from our people. It's time we went to review what is happening with our CDF projects,"

The House is expected to be recalled after a fortnight to approve extra spending on drought mitigation (Sh8 billion), the implementation of a new Constitution (Sh3.4 billion) and an unspecified amount for border security in response to terrorist threats.

Also in the agenda for the forthcoming fifth session of the Tenth Parliament is the Budget for the next financial year and implementation of the Constitution, including passing laws on devolution and electoral reforms.

MPs will be required to approve a fresh list of nominees for the offices of Chief Justice, Attorney General, Director of Public Prosecutions and Controller of Budget, after the President withdrew the initial nominations.

PM Raila Odinga
While contributing on the motion the PM said that a short recess will ensure legislatures cooled off and came back  "refreshed" .

On reconvening this will be the second last session before the house is dissolved for elections as required by the new constitution.
The one million dollar question in the minds of many a Kenyans is,will the MPs really be out to refresh or create more ground for bickering and politicking?
